09 Dec 2004 InterFAX Addresses Needs of Japanese Marketplace

InterFAX recently enhanced its internet faxing system to enable users to send and receive B4 pages straight through their computer, avoiding the time, hassle and added expense of manual faxing.

The new features allow B4 pages to be transmitted with greater ease, convenience and flexibility, said Yasuo Nakaoka of do-it, Inc, InterFAX partner in Japan. InterFAX supports a wide variety of file formats, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, PDF, HTML, TXT, MHT, URL, TIFF, EPS and JPG. Customers can send and receive all of these formats as B4 - as well as A4, letter and legal size - straight from their computer without any shrinking or printing to paper.

The InterFAX system also makes it easy to forward B4 pages. For example, when a B4 fax arrives as a TIFF file, users can send the TIFF to the InterFAX outbound service by simply forwarding the email. The out-going fax will be sent in B4 size as-is - with no size reduction or other extra steps required.

Since becoming an InterFAX reseller in 2002, Nakaoka has received numerous requests for B4 fax support. Now that the company is able to offer expanded service, this will strengthen its position in the marketplace. "I am very happy with InterFAX," Nakaoka said. "This means we will have more customers and we will be stronger than our competitors."

B4 pages, which are 257mm x 364mm in size, are among the most popular fax size in Japan. Japanese government offices use B4, B5 and other B sizes as their standard. Also, B4 pages are widely used among Japanese corporations, and the real estate and construction industries.

As email becomes more popular in the Japanese market, more organizations are interested in computer-based faxing. "I am sure that InterFAX's services will be able to capture the customers in the industries that we could not reach before by supporting the B4 size," Nakaoka said.

Fax machines for B4 pages can be relatively expensive, which makes the computer-based faxing of B4 pages an attractive alternative. With InterFAX's added feature, Nakaoka can offer the service at no additional charge. "Small businesses that need B4 faxes can take advantage of our service at a very low cost and very conveniently, using emails only," he said.
