Case Study: HotelzonJune 2007Maintenance-free Convenience: A Turn-key Hotel Booking SolutionHotelzon International is the leading provider of hotel reservation technology in Europe. It is also one of the oldest hotel booking agencies in the world. Hotelzon Online provides a turn-key booking solution for midsize and large corporations. The remarkable accessibility of the online service gives Hotelzon's clients a fast, cost-efficient way to manage executive travel arrangements. As a result, the service is extremely successful. In 2007, The Hotelzon Group expects to process over a million hotel bookings. They provide this service in any language, while offering clients a greater degree of control than they would have with other online services. Their satisfied customer base includes numerous prominent corporations, such as ABB, TietoEnator, Ford in Europe, Volvo, Ericsson and Akzo-Nobel. International Faxes in High VolumeEarly in 2005, Hotelzon replaced its own fax software with the service provided by InterFAX. Because Hotelzon services over 70,000 hotels worldwide, it was essential that they find a faxing partner capable of handling high-volume faxes on an international scale. InterFAX was the perfect match. From the corporate headquarters in Helsinki, CTO Jouni Peltonen, explained that they looked at many faxing software candidates. "We chose InterFAX because their interface was so easy and simple. Our support department is very pleased." Although Hotelzon had its own fax software, they found it to be cumbersome and demanding to manage the high-volume of faxes themselves. Running their own software meant they were responsible for resolving any maintenance issues that arose. The threat of downtime or delays was too much of a risk. With clients all over the world, it was also imperative that Hotelzon have the unquestioned capability of sending faxes anywhere. When they were using their own software, that was not always possible. Their local provider in Helsinki sometimes had problems sending faxes to China or more obscure locations around the world. This was frustrating at best. But, considering the high-speed nature of Hotelzon's business, it was also completely unacceptable. "I wanted our faxing to be easier to use and maintain. We also needed a partner who had no trouble sending faxes globally," Peltonen says. "Using InterFAX is not cheaper than doing it ourselves, but it's far more convenient." Future UpgradesPeltonen plans to improve his use of InterFAX in the future by upgrading to the InterFAX web services platform. The upgrade would allow them more flexibility and optimize their use of the existing InterFAX capabilities. In all the years they've been using InterFAX, the people at Hotelzon have been very happy with the service. "Whenever we've had any issues, they've been resolved fast and well," Peltonen says. "And besides that, they send us very nice boxes of chocolate at Christmas. They're delicious! Keep them coming!"
